Srravya Chandhiramowuli

Srravya Chandhiramowuli Hello! I am an interdisciplinary researcher of technology and society. Currently, I am a Research Fellow and Thematic Lead on Data Work in the Planetary AI project, at the University of Edinburgh (UK).

My latest research examines how the production networks of AI are organised to train, evaluate and fine-tune AI models and systems. In particular, I'm interested in the data work industry, whose large-scale operations across the world remain critical to AI's rapid proliferation in recent years.

My work builds on scholarship in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Science and Technology Studies (STS) and seeks to shape the design, policies and practices surrounding emerging technologies.

I have a PhD in Informatics, from the University of Edinburgh's Institute for Design Informatics. My prior experiences in software engineering, journalism, public policy, and free software movements enrich my work as a technology researcher.
